Every week, I write about international business, politics, or finance for the average Joe or 王 to show how our economies are more connected than one would think.
I would fall under the Humanists, Soft Power Geopoliticians, and the Scientists categories. While I’m strongly in favor of de-risking the U.S. economy from China, I only mean that from a purely trade standpoint.
From a human level, Americans and Chinese must be able to have access to each other, whether that’s at universities or online. I strongly believe that Chinese people coming to the U.S. makes the country a better place.
The U.S. has thrived when Chinese immigrants have come and brought their expertise and culture.
Moreover, Chinese students coming to American universities provides them with a different narrative from the one given by the Party. That’s essential when it comes to important topics like Taiwan, human rights, and the importance of genuine democracy in society.

Appreciate the response, especially stating what you fall under.
